Mia Calderisi has been designing and handcrafting jewellery in south Manchester for more than 10 years.
"I took the long route round to get to where I am now. I started with a fine arts degree and then moved into graphic design. I needed to get back to making and so took a City and Guilds in Silversmithing and Jewellery Design before furthering my skills as a goldsmith apprentice at a renowned Cheshire jewellers. I love making jewellery and hope to impart some of my passion and skills to students at the Guild."
"After many years of trying to convince me to teach jewellery making I finally took the advice of my jewellery tutor (and tutor at the Guild for many years) Grahame Hann. I took a BTEC Level 3 in teaching training before starting to teach at the Guild. He of course was right all along."
Mia divides her time between teaching at the Guild, making her own work for shows, commissions and galleries and of course her young family.
