About The Guild

The Legacy of The Guild for Lifelong Learning

Founded in 1926, The Guild for Lifelong Learning (formerly Wilmslow Guild) continues to fulfil its original vision "To provide a centre in which people may find opportunities for the enrichment of life through education, fellowship and co-operative effort for the welfare of the community"

The Guild receives over 6,000 enrolments to more than 500 courses each academic year. Striving to enhance social inclusion and personal development, we are now operating at 14 different locations within East Cheshire including Macclesfield, Stockport and Crewe.

With over 18 active clubs, groups and societies and the engagement of around 1,000 participants, we continue our efforts in building stronger, active and inclusive communities.

We work in partnership with Cheshire East Lifelong Learning to deliver health and wellbeing programmes in order to improve the health, wellbeing and fitness of individuals. We are able to support those disadvantaged and on low incomes through this partnership and we continue to develop programmes in our efforts to improve confidence and willingness to engage in learning, reduce social isolation and improve quality of life.

The Guild for Lifelong Learning is a registered charity (1151387) and company limited by guarantee (08331345).
