I hold a degree and a postgraduate degree
(Specializzazione) in Classical Archaeology from the Università di Roma “La
Sapienza”, and an MA in Archaeology and PhD in History of Art from the
University of Manchester, where I have been a student of Prof. Roger Ling and
Dr. Tom Rasmussen.
My main research interests are Greek and Roman art and
architecture and the history of archaeological studies. I have published
articles and reviews on these topics, and a monograph about one of the most
imposing late-antique houses at Ostia: the Domus del Ninfeo. My English
translation of a book on Herculaneum has been recently published.
I have been teaching for years at the University of
Manchester (undergraduates, postgraduates and at the former Centre for
Continuing Education) and I am currently affiliated to the University of Bonn.
