Beginners Jewellery With Hannah

A new class for the autumn term following a structured program.  You will start with the basics, learning how to saw, file, use pliers correctly, texture metal, use the torch, wiggly machines, before moving onto more complex skills like a stone setting.  Classes are tailored to individual ability and there are tools for those with less nimble fingers. The studio is a place where you can progress at your own pace systematically move towards more unusual and unique creations with advanced tools, techniques and materials as your confidence grows.  Hannah’s classes are inclusive, all abilities are welcome.

If a Friday morning doesn't fit with your schedule, you can follow this program during any of our mixed ability sessions which is a great way to progress as you see peers projects in progress.  

Hannah says, ‘You do not have to be crafty or artistic to attend this class and you can choose projects that increase your skills and confidence as you design and create pieces of jewellery to wear or to gift.  It is also a very mindful experience to immerse yourself in a creative environment working with your hands for a period of time.’

All tools are supplied, raw materials, metals, semi-precious stones and consumables can be purchased in class or bought from suppliers locally or via the internet. For example, it might cost as little as £3 for the metals to make a slim ring and the metals can be purchased on the day from Hannah, larger amounts of metals can be purchased online under Hannah’s guidance.

Hannah’s classes run for 10 weeks with a week off for half term.  It is possible to switch an occasional class time or day as and when family things crop up. Talk to Hannah about that.
