Course synopsis
Online via Zoom
For the first block of three weeks we
will work with watercolour, for the second block with acrylic paints.
Each block has a theme that runs
through the three weeks which contrasts thematically with the following block.
The course explores watercolour and
acrylics specific working techniques through the lens of themes like 'portraits',
'scenes with water', 'architecture and human figure', 'rock and mountain' and
others.
No matter if we use watercolour or
acrylic paints, each themed block allows learners to explore different aspects
of using brush control and layering of paint to create the illusion of
three-dimensionality, the qualities of natural light, and features particular
to painting people and landscapes.
Learners will need to have an
internet connection, a mobile phone and be able to use Zoom and Whatsapp. The
day before the session, Sabine sends out a work sheet that will be used as
inspiration and reference. Learners need to print this out and have it ready
for the session. Learners are also welcome to bring along their own sourced
reference materials, if they wish, and use that for inspiration.
The course participants and Sabine
share a whatsapp group where they post the artwork they make during the session
for a close-up look, and Sabine gives detailed demonstrations of how to work
with certain techniques and she advises learners on their individual progress
with their work
