Celebrating Wilmslow’s Newest Blue Plaque

Celebrating Wilmslow’s Newest Blue Plaque.

While attending a talk given by local historian Barry Clark at the Guild about the region's Arts and Crafts Movement, orthodontist Rosemary Jones suddenly realised that the historic home and workshop of coppersmith James Smithies was actually Trinity House Dental Care, her very own practice at Manchester Road 💡

Fast forward to 21st September 2026, and a brand-new Blue Plaque was officially unveiled, bringing together his descendants, local officials, and historians to celebrate a remarkable craftsman whose work shaped our town’s heritage.

Super thrilled to see this community story featured in a recent issue of My Wilmslow & Alderley Edge. We’ve been running Arts and Crafts lectures, courses, and clubs for 100 years.

Seeing a chat after a lecture blossom into a lasting piece of town history makes us incredibly proud.
