Information

This workshop is FREE and is jointly sponsored by the Guild and the facilitator who is donating her time without a fee.

For the past few years, we’ve been running highly successful one day workshops in Writing for Wellbeing. People have loved them and often asked for more. So, we’re responding for the second year running with another Encore Saturday Session, hence the title Encore Again!!

This is a day of writing when you don’t need any experience, you don’t have to impress anyone, and it’s private and safe. You won’t have to read anything out – unless you want to. And it’s been scientifically proved to benefit your mental and physical health.

As you may know, art therapy has been successfully used in hospitals for decades. But writing for wellbeing has grown in popularity fast in the last few years because it’s something you can do for yourself anytime, anywhere using a few simple techniques. And you don’t need to have emotional’ issues’ to benefit. And because what you write is private, no-one will judge. There may be opportunities to read out if you choose to, but absolutely no pressure. It’s up to you.

You’ll probably be surprised at some of the thoughts that appear on the page before you. Thoughts you’d never been aware of before and feelings that may have been supressed, sometimes for years. Together we’ll create a friendly, safe and supportive environment.  And though the exercises are designed to bring out the positives in life, most people find the exercises, prompts and reflective processes we use can be cleansing, enlightening and often healing.

It doesn’t matter if this is your first experience of Writing for Wellbeing. You’ll find your pen has plenty to say. But if you’ve been before, do come again, we’ll include a fresh bunch of exercises, so you can build on what you’ve learned so far.

Writing for Wellbeing can help you to:

  1. - Gain a better understanding of yourself

  2. - Look at things from a fresh perspective

  3. - Sort out your problems and feelings with a pen

  4. - Find an outlet for feelings that would otherwise pile up

  5. - Build more resilience to the ups and downs of life

  6. - Boost your confidence and self-belief

  7. - Help you acknowledge yourself for your strengths

  8. - Expand your comfort zone – and grow!
