To commemorate the 80th anniversary of VE Day, the Wilmslow Historical Society is hosting an exhibition at the Guild for Lifelong Learning to highlight the vital roles played by Wilmslow residents, especially women and children, in supporting the war effort.

This offers a poignant reflection on Wilmslow's Homefront during the war and honours the civilian contributions that were instrumental to our nation's victory.

Exhibition Highlights

• An overview: During World War II, women in the UK played a critical role in supporting the war effort from the home front. 

• Evacuees: Wilmslow played a significant role in hosting evacuees

• Photographic Displays: Authentic wartime photographs from Wilmslow, highlighting the community's resilience and contributions during WWII.

• Personal Stories: Narratives focusing on the efforts of local people in supporting the war, offering a personal glimpse into Wilmslow's history.
