Learn ways to develop the skills you need to paint successful portraits. Or use the day to extend and develop your existing skills with guidance from Anna and support from fellow students. You will be given plenty of time to explore various ways to show form and capture likeness using your media of choice. We will cover
· Ways to measure proportion
· Ways to show form
· What to look for in eye, nose and mouth shapes
· Ways to mix skin colours
· Ways to show shadows and highlights
· How to paint hair
Bring your own image or work from one provided.
You will need
· Drawing pencils, graphite or charcoal
· Watercolour or acrylic paint or pastel
· Suitable paper for your chosen media
· Palette, water pot, brushes etc
Anna will use examples of work by a variety of artists to provide context and inspiration for the day.
Beginners with some knowledge of how to use their chosen media are welcome.
Please bring your preferred drawing and painting materials and a packed lunch. Tea and coffee will be available to purchase. Further details will be sent to those who register for the course.
