Dark Secrets Blackwater Bogs, The Bodies They Yield, And The Stories They Tell

Peat bogs are present all over northern Europe, and in this talk, local historian and author John Wallace discusses their formation, location, composition and the bodies that they have yielded over the centuries, from Denmark and the Soviet Union to the United Kingdom and England - in particular Shropshire and the North West.

This talk will also provide a general introduction to the historic remains found on Lindow Moss - not just those of Lindow Man, but of remains that involved a suspected killing, a confession and conviction for murder of a strangely-named former inhabitant of Lindow!

John Wallace has written several non-fiction and fiction books. His latest novel, 'The Mire', is about Lindow and the hold it exerts over those who have lived there, past and present.
