Course synopsis

England's Remarkable History as told in its buildings, towns and cities. History is all around us. This course will help us unpick the layers of history in places that are familiar to us as well as introducing new places areas to us. 

I will delve into history by looking at buildings and places to search for interesting facts relating to art, music, literature, architecture, science, gardens, travel, sport, faith, industry, power, commerce, trade and destruction.

We will visit historical places that are local and much further afield from the comfort of the classroom.

Places include Jodrell Bank, Whitby Abbey, Worsley Delph, Abbey Road Studios, Chetham's Library and the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club.

This course is 10 weeks in duration from 8th January with a break on 12th and 19th February.
