Workshop I: An Introduction to Needle-Punching
Friday 29 April 2022 [Live-Stream: 9.30am-11.30am]
Recorded for ‘watching on demand’
An introduction to the process of needle-punching; also known as needle-felting that uses dedicated needles with tiny ‘barbs’ to fuse wool fibres together. A piece of dry felt is created followed by a fusion of fibre to a woollen cloth to produce soft, painterly lines.
Using both an embellishing machine and hand felting needles the workshop goes on to highlight methods for joining additional materials such as open-weave cotton ,silk and woollen cloth, fibre and yarn to a base cloth; punching from both sides to create a range of different tactile effects.
Workshops II and III can be booked separately, you can find the information on the distance learning section HERE
