Course synopsis

Understanding changes in how buildings were built, what was used to build them, and the traditions and cultures that formed around those practices is not only useful for studying architectural history. It is also crucial for managing the historic built environment as it exists today. In addition, it indicates socio-economic, political and environmental changes in society which is an important part of local historical studies -We will study the character of the domestic building of each region of England looking a similarities and differences and looking at how to date these buildings.
