Settlements In The Landscape

All CategoriesArchaeology, History & History of ArtCourse

Course synopsis

England's picturesque villages offer diverse landscapes, from the honey-stone Cotswolds (Castle Combe, Bibury) and medieval timber-framed towns (Lavenham, Rye) to dramatic coastlines (Polperro, Robin Hood's Bay) and settlements in the fells in the Lake District (Grasmere, Hawkshead). Our unique towns, villages and hamlets are the result of the geomorphological and geological processes when combined with local traditions. This course will showcase historical architecture, riverside settings, and stunning natural beauty allowing us to explore the traditional English countryside, its history, culture, artistic and literary connections
