Robert Penn Warren was a distinguished poet, novelist, critic, and teacher, who won virtually every major award given to writers in the United States, including 3 Pulitzer Prizes, two for poetry and one for fiction.  His Pulitzer prize winning novel All The King’s Men was, he claimed, ‘never intended to be a book about politics,’ yet it is considered a classic in that genre, and is both a roman à clef and a work with significance to modern events. ‘Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall, Humpty Dumpty had a great fall…’
