Course synopsis

A course to consider the contributions to the development of
Art by Artists who were either on the outside trying to get in or on the
outside trying to stay where they were. Their approach was unique and marked
them out as different to those who had come before.

 Shocking Art - Art that did more than fling a pot of paint
in the public’s face

 Caravaggio and Modigliani - the dark and the troubled

 Lucien Freud - Bad Mad and Dangerous

 Banksy and Damien Hirst - rebels become Lovies

 Campaigners and Explorers - Ai Wei Wei, Sarah Lucas, Keith
Haring, Shepherd Fairey, Yayoi Kusama
