Course synopsis
Ireland has produced a rich seam of writers, some of whom used its unique history as inspiration. Interspersed by a wider survey of some of their achievements, we shall study:
Term 1 autumn. Please note no class Friday 29th September.

A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man (1916) by James Joyce
The Lonely Passion of Judith Hearne (1955) by Brian Moore
Term 2 spring
Again we will look at Irish literature (in English) more generally, & study:
Troubles (1970) by J.G. Farrell
Angela’s Ashes (1996) by Frank McCourt
Nora Webster by (2014) Colm Toibin
