Course synopsis
This short course will look at the origins of film noir in the 1920s and 1930s through to the classic period of the 1940s and 50s and beyond. We will be viewing five whole films that will include a precursor to the classic Hollywood era of Noir, some examples from that period and a later film drawing on the Noir genre. The course will include tutor introductions to the films, film notes and discussion of the films viewed.
