Creation Stories From Around The World

"Where do we come from?". This is an age old, existential question and people of all sorts have tried to answer it as they told stories about how the cosmos came to be. Sometimes it was a violent affair involving the clash of competing deities. Sometimes it was orderly and sedate. The origin could be from water or from fire. This course will explore a series of cultures and will compare and contrast the way people from India through the Middle East, Europe and America  have answered these fundamental questions. They did so  in an age before the scientific concept of the Big Bang. A potent mythic image for the 21st century.
