Face-To-Face Learning:
Whether
you have no experience of textiles at all, have merely dabbled in the
subject over the years, or are an experienced practitioner then this
course can accommodate 'you'!
In a relaxed setting, the aim is to enable students to explore fabric manipulation, embellishment, dyeing, distressing and other processes in a contemporary context. The less experienced class members develop a basic skill-set, whereas those at improvers’ level have an opportunity to immerse themselves in self-initiated projects to create a small collection of two- and three-dimensional pieces.
Each class is of three-hour duration, allowing sufficient time for tutor demonstrations, videos to explain technical processes, question & answers and supervised practical sessions at the students’ own pace. In addition, a private Facebook group provides a platform for 24/7 per support.
The tutor outlines safe practices for using materials, tools and equipment. Students are encouraged to bring their own sewing machine, where possible, although the Guild has
a small selection of machines. The ability to use a sewing machine at a
basic level is desirable, but hand-sewing is also a feature of the
course. NOTE: There is a small fee (cash only) for materials payable to the tutor, each term.
