All CategoriesDistance Learning

Course synopsis

This class incorporates blended study, face to face and at home joining via Zoom.  If you are a new student please contact the office to advise of your preference.

We can all write, but wouldn't it be wonderful if, in this rapidly
changing world of electronic media, we could write beautifully for
pleasure using traditional materials? Calligraphy at The Guild
welcomes beginners and here you will learn the basic skills to help you
achieve exactly that. From historic scripts to the latest in
contemporary lettering, there are scripts to explore from the Roman era,
the Celts, the Anglo-Saxons, the Middle Ages, The Renaissance and into
the 21st century. Various skills will be covered with the
emphasis on individuals working at their own pace and aspirations to
take writing from the purely functional to a rewarding art form.

Improvers and intermediate students are welcome and will be encouraged and supported to continue developing their skills.
