Course synopsis
The father of Tutankhamun had his name and memory erased from Egyptian history, along with that of his son, by subsequent regimes. They dubbed him "the heretic of Akhetaten". Why did Amenhotep IV change his name to Akhenaten and abandon the old capital of Thebes? What propelled him and his wife Nefertiti to raise an obscure deity the sun disc Aten to the role of principal, sole god? Since the 19th century he and his family have emerged from the darkness into which they were cast. This course will tell the story of the rise and fall of the most enigmatic Pharaoh in history
