A Women’s History Of Wales

All CategoriesDistance Learning

Course synopsis

This course takes a new look at the lives of
women and girls in Wales. Profiling one woman per class across a broad sweep of
history, we will study the lives of twelve women and use them to highlight
specific topics in Welsh women’s history, illustrating the their diversity,
vibrancy, ingenuity  and determination,
whatever their background or status in life.

Farmers, suffragists, scholars and poets, law
breakers and law makers, nurses and warriors will all feature in this course. We
will also look at family dynamics and gender relationships, stripping away any
stereotypes or preconceptions to reveal the real women and girls of Welsh
history, beyond the myths.

How
will the course be delivered?

The course will consist of two hour, weekly
Zoom classes, with follow-up emails summarizing each session, and offering
links, copies of any slides used, and any discussion points raised. Email
support from the tutor is always available.
