Information

There's a place for lace and it's not just on your lingerie! Lacemaking is a traditional craft. Historically lace was a symbol of wealth and status, worn by the aristocratic classes but made by the working class. Since the industrial revolution lace has been produced by machine and available commercially to all. As with all traditional crafts, there are groups of enthusiasts who wish to keep the skills alive.

Lace at the Guild is a group of lace makers of varying abilities who are all keen to share their knowledge and spread the joy of making something so beautiful by hand. Lace at the Guild is an untutored self-help group meeting each Tuesday from 9am-12 noon
